TV SHOW LOOKING
FOR GEARHEADS

Beachwood, Ohio, September 3, 2003 – Calling all “gearheads:” your chance at fame has arrived. Cleveland based television producers, Beachwood Studios is launching a new weekly series for a major cable network. The hour-long reality show will follow the exploits of amateur motorsports participants as they build their vehicles for show and competition. Beachwood Studios is now screening local “gearheads” to be subjects for upcoming episodes.

According to series’ producer Warren Brown, the show’s focus will be “real people building real performance for show and go.” “Every day, millions of ordinary people take factory stock vehicles and modify them to perform way beyond their original capabilities. Then they take them out and show them, race them, cruise with them, mud bog with them, or anything else they can get a motor vehicle to do.” The show will feature a wide variety of vehicles. “We’re looking for drag racers, street hot rods and customs, trucks and four wheelers, and sport compacts,” said Brown. “As long as the owners plan fairly extensive performance modification, and some form of show or competition, we’re interested.”

The show’s reality format will call for the cameras to scrutinize these enthusiasts from the planning stages through the actual performance modifications and all points in between. Then the show will follow them to the track, or the cruise in, or the off-road trail. The subjects will be shown in their homes and garages, at the machine shop and parts store, as-well-as in the pits and behind the wheel.

“Shows currently on the air such as Monster Garage and American Chopper have shown that there is great drama in the whole performance modification process. Our show will demonstrate that the drama doesn’t stop with luminaries like Jessie James (Monster Garage), but that it exists every day in garages across the country,” said Brown.

“We’re looking for ordinary people in the Cleveland and Akron areas who already have vehicles that they are working on, or have plans for a project vehicle. We want people who work with partners or groups, family, friends or even as organized clubs. We aren’t looking for experts, but a track record of performance modification is important,” explained Brown. “Qualified applicants should also have a place to work on their vehicles.” In exchange for their participation in the show, participants will receive technical advice and performance parts and supplies at a discount or free. All interested candidates will go through an application and interview process.

Beachwood Studios has produced television programs that have aired on HGTV, Public Television, and BET. One of the studio’s most popular series is Room By Room produced for HGTV. “We have created over 100 episodes and four hour long specials for the network,” commented Brown.

To obtain an application for the company’s new show, interested persons should contact Darcy Angell at Beachwood Studios, 23330 Commerce Park, Beachwood, OH 44122, angell@edr.com, 216-292-7300.
